MS ScienceKristy L. Vander Werff from Delta Engineers, Architects, & Surveyors visited Deborah Darling’s middle school science classes on Tuesday. Ms. Vander Werff spoke about her experience as a licensed structural engineer and project manager and shared photos of some of her many projects. She oversaw the installation of a tension netting system for Fenway Park as well as renovations at Visions Federal Credit Union in Endwell and the Binghamton University Engineering Building. One of her proudest accomplishments was designing the goal posts at the LA Rams Sofi Stadium ahead of last year’s Super Bowl in California. She also spoke about Delta's  job shadowing, internship and mentoring opportunities available for high school students.

Ms. Vander Werff graduated from Newark Valley CSD and received her BS in Civil Engineering at Syracuse University and earned her MA in Structural Engineering at Cornell University.

Following her presentations at JC, each student was given a paper plate, string, masking tape and a plastic ball and asked to create a piece of equipment that allowed them to see through it and still be able to use their project to bounce a ball back and forth to a partner.
